Poetry is a fascinating journey created by elegant or hard words placed into a perfect order to forge feelings and inspiration. Some poems tell a story and others impart a feeling or sensation. When I started writing poetry, many years ago now, I kept to a free verse format and used rhyme in almost everything. As I developed as a poet I explored other forms of poetry and soon had written hundreds of sonnets, over fifty terzanelle, several sestina, haiku, rondeau, abecedarian, limerick, word palindromes, and other forms. My longest poem is The Sojourner's Maze: The Epic of Telfius at over 32,000 words long and is written in rhyming couplets. The refining of poetic form is a life-long process and with each new poem I feel I learn more about the dynamic English language and about myself. Every poem has an inspiration whether it is a person, place, time, feeling, or event... each poem is wrapped around that sensation and driven onto the paper. It took a while to go through my poetry and to select the poems to place online as a sample of poetry. The poems here capture a wide variety of what I have written with the poetic pen. I hope you enjoy them and if you have any questions you can always email me.
